The critically-acclaimed ‘Please Leave’ campaign for WeTransfer explored the company’s role in supporting
creativity and encouraging the flow of ideas without distraction

excited enough to go and experience the
Tate and it’s definitely an interesting
challenge to use digital and online
platforms to get people to go to a physical
space. But the final output won’t just be
digital; it’ll be a mix of online and offline
to make sure we’re speaking to the right
audiences at the right time.

What’s exciting you in web design?
AEP: Pushing the boundaries of
immersive experiences is still the most
exciting challenge for us. After the ‘Flash
crash’ things got pretty rigid for a while
but with 5G on the horizon we’re
expecting to see a resurgence of more
complex and interesting web-based
experiences for brands. We’ve always
tried to ensure every aspect of a web-
based project is crafted to the highest
possible quality. From slick transitions
and tight animation through to use of
audio (which is still undervalued in our
opinion). And Muzli is a dear friend.

Are you recruiting or looking for
freelancers and, if so, what kind of
designers/devs are you looking for?

HL: We’re always on the lookout for great
talent, even if we don’t have an
immediate position available. What is so
great about Stink Studios is the diversity
of the projects we work on. We can have a
brief to find a Spark AR developer one day
and the next day be looking for an
amazing illustrator or animator.
We have our little black book of
freelancers and are always looking to
increase that list. And because of the type
of clients and diverse projects we work
on, there is always a requirement for new
skills and new roles.

How do you see Stink Studios evolving
throughout the 2020s?
HL: We’ve never wanted to be the biggest
company. As long as we’re doing our best
work for clients that are interested in
doing things a little differently, the team
is happy and hopefully we’ll keep heading
in the right direction.

What do most people not know about
Stink Studios?
HL: People ask where the name came
from but we’ll save that for next time!
