Nakamoto

nakamoto.com

Named after Satoshi Nakamoto, the
inventor of Bitcoin, this site has already
divided the cryptocurrency community.
Despite involving several crypto
personalities, including the co-founder of
Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, and Brian
Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, there are
objections to its pro-Bitcoin stance and
fears that contributors may use the
platform as a promotional tool. Either
way, there are interesting articles to get
your teeth into, covering the culture and
philosophical principles of Bitcoin, as well
explorations of the technical side.
Articles can also be saved via Pocket and
sharedonsocialmedia.

The Property Street
http://www.thepropertystreet.com
The Property Street lets buyers, sellers,
tenants and landlords circumvent estate
agents and do business directly. You’ll
have to arrange viewings and haggle on
price yourself but the management
dashboard should inspire confidence,
showing successful viewings and offers
while detailing steps such as instructing
a solicitor, completing surveys and
mortgages and exchanging contracts.
Submitting a listing is as easy as filling in
a comprehensive form and adverts can
be placed for free for two weeks, costing
up to £49.99 for six. Searching for homes
is also easy but, currently, there are only
a fewpropertiestobrowse.

Sharing Swindon’s
Story swindonstory.uk
The town of New Swindon was created
in 1841 but, in 1900, it joined with Old
Swindon under a charter signed by
Queen Victoria to create a single
municipal borough. This website, created
by 40 young people, looks back over
those 59 years, telling the town’s story
from its beginnings to the creation of the
Railway Village, Mechanics’ Institution,
GWR Park and more. With fascinating
photos and written insights into the era,
the site is both slick and simple to
navigate. You can also learn more about
the project and watch videos, including a
wonderful documentary about the life of
a SwindonRailwayWorker.

K AR ATE

World Karate
Federation http://www.wkf.net
The new official hub for the World
Karate Federation is packed with
features including videos, photos
and the ability to share all the
content via social media, with
results, event information and
competition details split into
microsites for each tournament.
However, the design feels too
haphazard, with little thought for
layout or content presentation. There
are also too many annoyances: some
story links take you straight to
YouTube without warning, while one
merely showed a photo and no extra
contentorexplanation.
