Watch Captain Hugh Laurie

in space satire Avenue 5
From 22 January
The Thick of It and Veep creator Armando Iannucci launches into
space for his latest comedy, Avenue 5. And judging by the official
trailer for the HBO/Sky show (free to watch at http://www.hbo.com/
avenue-5), the journey hasn’t blunted Iannucci’s satirical skewer.
Avenue 5 stars a dapper Hugh Laurie as Ryan Clark, captain of
hetitular interplanetary cruise ship. When a malfunction leaves it
stranded in space, there’s panic among the crew and passengers
(including Rebecca Front and Nikki Amuka-Bird) and a shrug
from Avenue 5’s useless tycoon Herman Judd (Josh Gad, aka
Olaf in Frozen).
HBO’s website has a couple of trailers but there’s even more
onYouTube, including an official teaser at bit.ly/avenue
anda spoof advert for Judd’s “Luxury Space Experience” at
bit.ly/judd493.
Avenue 5’s eight episodes air weekly on Sky One, three days
after debuting on HBO. Stream on-demand via Now TV with an
Entertainment Pass (£8.99 per month, bit.ly/nowent493), and via
Sky Go with a Sky subscription.
