random splotches at top of rattle to
make the giraffe pattern. With RS tog,
sew seams to 6cm (2¼in) from top
(taking care to match stripes). Secure
tail ends. Turn RS out and stuff to top of

way around rattle to keep it central. Pull
up yarn tightly at top of head then sew
seam, leaving a 2cm (¾in) gap.
Muzzle
Using Citron, cast on 28 sts and st-st

Row 1 (K2, k2tog) to end. 21 sts

Next row Purl.

Cut yarn and thread through.
Pull up sts tightly and secure. Sew
seam to edge. Pin to front of face, with

above striped handle. Sew in place.
Make eyes by casting on 3 sts using
Black, sl1, k2tog, psso. Cut yarn and
thread through. Position eyes above
muzzle, leaving 3 sts between them.
Sew ends through to gap at back of
head and knot together. Pull a strand
from a length of Black yarn and use
to work 2 small nostrils and a curved
smile. Trim strands of Black at back of

and sew gap.
Inner ear (make 2)
Using Citron, cast on 4 sts and st-st

Next row K2tog to end. 2 sts

Cut yarn and pull through.
Outer ear (make 2)
Using Sunshine, cast on 6sts and st-st
6 rows.
Next row K2tog to end. 3 sts
Next row P 3 tog.
Cut yarn and pull through. Place RS
tog with bases of each part touching.
Sew seam around sides of ear. Turn
RS out at base, giving tip of ear a little
tug outwards to shape. Fold base in
half then sew across seam. Sew ears
to either side of head.
Horns (make 2)
Using Sunshine, cast on 6 sts and st-st
4 rows. Change to Spice.
Next row Knit.
Next row P2tog to end. 3 sts
Next row K 3 tog.
Cut yarn and pull through.
With RS facing, roll horn up tightly.
Sew seam from tip to base. Sew horns
to top of head, 1cm (½in) apart. Ensure
