The Beach Bum
Stoner poet Moondog (Matthew
McConaughey) lives hedonistically in and
around the Florida Keys, where he is reputed
as a local legend, albeit one past his prime.
He aims to complete his new novel in a bid
to take some of the inheritance of his wife,
Minnie (Isla Fisher).

- Writer-director Harmony Korine wrote The
Beach Bum’s script after the 2012 release of
his crime caper Spring Breakers. - The new script was unsurprisingly inspired
by his experiences in Florida, including
with particular people he hung out with in
the Keys. - Cast member Snoop Dogg was originally
intended to play himself, but was ultimately
allowed to follow his creative instinct and
play a new character instead. - Gary Oldman rejected the lead role before
McConaughey accepted it. - McConaughey co-stars here with Jonah
Hill, as he previously did in 2013 film The Wolf
of Wall Street.
