Taking a moment

Here’s a stitch that I finally got around to making for my daughter.

She’s one year old now and life’s been so eventful that I’ve only

just gotten back into my hobbies. I’m a busy mum, so stitching

helps me relax on an evening when the children are in bed.

Rachael Seddon, Bolton

Emily says: I tend to use stitching to relax too, Rachael – it’s so

meditative and calming. I think this project is so sweet, and

I hope you display it in your daughter’s

room. She’s sure to love looking at it

ever y day as she grows up.

Escape to the city

Hello, Crazy! I’d like to share my recent

finish with you. It’s the last of the four

Mini Cottages kits by Michael Powell.

This design reminded me of Prague

as I stitched it – even though it’s not

actually meant to be Prague! To me,

Prague is a city with a mysterious

and magical atmosphere – just like

Michael Powell’s designs. I really

enjoyed stitching this particular scene,

and I also wanted to thank you for

creating such a nice magazine!

Marica Fava, Italy

Alison says: I can really see why it

reminds you of Prague, Marica! Just

looking at your stitch reminds me of

the time I studied abroad in the Czech

Republic. I think this would make

a wonderful card or canvas. You can

find more of Michael’s designs at

Handmade holidays

This year, I’m tr ying to give as many homemade Christmas

gifts as I can. I’ve just completed these two while away on

holiday in Devon. I made them from two of your cover kits.

I used seed beads instead of French knots as I wanted to

add a new element to them. I hope you like them, Crazy!

Jeanette Bocking, Derbyshire

Lou says: It looks like you’re on your way to having a whole

stash of fantastic presents to surprise your loved ones with

this year, Jeanette. I love that you added beads to these

designs – they look so pretty. And the cute bows at the top

of each hoop are a fab finishing touch. If anyone else wants

to stitch these, the Santa by James Hearne is from issue

260 and the mice by Margaret Sherr y are from issue 249.

S Jeanette is making as

many gifts as she can

for Christmas this year

Let’s get organised!

Here’s a little tip for storing a project’s

threads. I bought myself a 42 -pocket

coin-holder insert from eBay and put it

in a folder. Then, I cut short lengths of

threads for each project and tucked them

in the pockets, labelling each one with its

shade number. This way, it’s easy to flick

through and find the right thread for my

current project, all ready to go!

Samantha Dingwall, Moray

Emma says: Thanks for sharing a top tip!
