“We wanted to give a lot for you, but not our blood,” said a furious
Ronnie James Dio as the band quit the stage. “If you don’t want to enjoy
it, then tough shit!” Two hours later, when the band still hadn’t returned
to the stage, the venue’s lights were turned on, and the crowd took out
its rage by smashing everything in sight. When the night was over, 160
Sabbath fans found themselves behind bars. By then, the band were
already en route to Louisville, Kentucky. Having come back from the
abyss with their new album, Sabbath weren’t about to be derailed again.
“If I was asked to name one album that I’m really proud of in my
career, Heaven And Hell would be it,” Ronnie told Planet Rock in 2007.
“Of course, there have been others I’ve loved equally, but there were so
many elements to that make Heaven And Hell special for me. To be in one
