Stag cushion
P
roud and majestic, the
stag is a treasure of the
British countryside and
a wonderful sight to behold. If
you’re lucky enough to catch a
glimpse of one, you’ll be wowed
by its strength and grace... and
it’ll be a delight to capture it in
stitches. Worked on pale blue
aida fabric for a crisp winter sky
effect this design uses whole
cross stitches, fractionals and
backstitch, plus a scattering
of metallic threads to give
a frosty morning look. It’s
definitely a design to take your
time over. The large size and
realistic shading will make this
project a fun challenge to stitch
during the autumn months.
Remember to sort your threads
and grid your fabric for easy
counting, then mark off the
squares as you go, to keep track
of your place. And, while your
finished work will make a lovely
picture, we think a cushion is a
cosy make for any home! Stitching
