Ski cards

“These cards are great for all sorts of

winter occasions - birthdays, thank yous

and notelets – just add a greeting to

match the occasion.”

Fiona Baker, technical editor

Stitching tip
If you don’t have aperture cards, then you can
fray the edges of your stitched piece and patch
onto a normal card for an alternative effect.

How to mount your

stitching into an

aperture card

1

Lay your pressed
stitching face-up
and place the card on
top, with the aperture
framing the design.
Move the card around
until you are happy
with the way the aperture frames the
design. Attach pins to the fabric to mark where
the edges of the aperture lie.

2

Lift away the card and trim the fabric 1.5cm
(½in) away from the pins. Make sure there’s
enough fabric to stick the design inside the card.

3

Stick strips of double-sided tape around the
aperture on the reverse side of the card. Pull
off the backing tape and position the aperture
over the stitched piece. Press it firmly in place.

4

Lay the card face-down and place wadding
(optional) over the back of the stitching. Stick
strips of double-sided tape to the left-hand flap
of the card and fold over the back of the stitching.
Fold over the right-hand flap.
