The World of Cross Stitching 15

Over to You

http://www.gathered.how/woxs

I

have been stitching for well
over 30 years now – I can
rarely remember a time when
I was not stitching something.
I have stitched a number of
custom patterns for family
members over the years so this
year I decided to stitch one for
myself. This is my miniature
dachshund, Brinkley, who will
be three on June 15th. The
original photo was taken by
a friend and I used an online
company to convert the photo.
It was stitched on 18-count
aida and took me 5 months
(stitching on and off). I think
it looks good. I have attached
the finished sewing and the
original photo.

Emily: Wow! Your stitching
really is the spitting image
of your Brinkley – from his
adorable floppy ears right
down to his cute waggly tail. I
bet this framed stitch will take
pride of place in your home,
and rightly so!
Do you know about our
‘Pet of the Month’ page? The
talented Durene Jones will
convert a picture of your pet
into stitching.

TREAT YOURSELF TOO

hought I’d finally make something just for myself.

Hannah:
It’s lovely to stitch
cards and gifts for
others, but it’s also
good to remember
that it’s just as
important to stitch
for yourself, too.
This Assisi-style
stitching is from
Fiona Baker’s
‘Easter Card’ set
from issue 279
(April 2019).

D

ear The World of Cross Stitching magazine,
I am writing to share with you this picture
of my niece who recently received my longest
ever project. This project was started in 2012 by
my fiancé Martin and was left for a few years as
life got in the way. This year I decided that I was
going to finish it! Well, I did it and because it was
my niece’s first time in London for her birthday,
I thought this project was perfect for her. Please
could you print this in your magazine as I would
love to surprise my niece? Many thanks!
Louise Marshall, via email
Tina: It’s always so satisfying to finish a long-
standing project. What a lovely idea to gift it to
your niece for her birthday, Louise. You can see
that she’s really happy with it, plus it’ll also be a
great reminder of her first trip to London.

Perfect

Present

I

have a co-worker who
is marrying her beloved
and I wanted to give her
a little something. When
I saw these little Furry
Tales wedding mice from
issues 280 (May 2019) and
281 (June 2019) I knew
this was it as both their
names begin with the
letter M. The lettering was
also from the wedding
sampler in issue 280. I did
change the colour as the
wedding colour was dusty
pinks. I have put them
in a nice multi-frame so
they can add some lovely
wedding photos when
they get back from their
honeymoon.

Sue: What a fantastic
idea, Helen. I especially
love how you’ve tied their
two cute, little mouse tails
together in a heart shape.
Your colleague and her
new husband must have
been very pleased.
