W

hen issue 281 (June
2019) of The World of
Cross Stitching came through
my door and I saw the Cookie
Bear card kit, I had to stitch
it right away. I found that I
had a lot of threads left over,
so I did it again for my son’s
birthday and added a bit to
it. My friend’s daughter is just
finishing a Chinese degree, so
I thought the panda card was
just right for her, and another
friend’s daughter has an 18th
birthday coming up, so out
came your magazines – the
champagne bottle made a
fitting card for her. Thanks
for all the lovely charts.

H

ello Team WOXS, my best friend’s daughter got
married recently and this was the card I stitched for her
and her new husband. I’ve not been doing much stitching
recently as I’ve found I’m either too busy or just can’t get
up the interest. Seeing the lovely wedding designs in the
recent ‘It must be love’ Design Library from issue 280 (May
2019) spurred me on to create a personalised card and has
rekindled my interest in stitching again.
Debbie Cooke, Cwmbran, South Wales
Hannah: Our Design Library collections are great for fun, quick
stitches. With a new theme every month, you’re sure to find
something you’ll love. When you’re feeling a bit more confident
with your stitching, you could try creating your own sampler
using Design Library motifs – flip to page 56 to follow a step-by-
step guide by our very own Technical Editor, Fiona Baker.

Sympathy

A

reader asked for non-
religious sympathy cards
in issue 278 (March 2019). I
thought you might like to see
two possibilities that I have
used from back issues. I’ve
made cards with the butterfly
from 277 (February 2019) and
the magnolia from about three
years ago. They have been
very well received as both
sympathy and get-well cards.
Alison Taylerson,
New Zealand
Sue: This a really lovely idea,
Alison. Instead of sending
flowers, you can stitch them
instead. Plus, they’ll last a lot
longer, too, so it’ll be a nice
thing for your recipients to
hold on to and know that you
are thinking of them.

I

thought you might like to see my completed quotes
from the May 2019 (280) issue of The World of Cross
Stitching. I’ve recently got back into cross stitching and
when I saw these quotes I knew I had to do them. Having
suffered from anxiety and depression, I thought these
would be a good
reminder that I can
do it on a low day.
Thanks for these
great designs and
restarting my love
of cross stitch.

Tina: These are fab,
Marie. I’m glad to
hear that you find
stitching a great
motivational tool. l
find it really helps to
quiet my busy brain.
