Meet our guests

Fave recent WOXS design?
It has to be the ‘Highland Cows’
cuddling from 286 (Nov 2019)! I love
it because Highland cows are cute
and shaggy, especially the babies.
How’d you get into stitching?
When I was 15, a local lady started
up weekly craft classes. I chose to
stitch some simple yellow and orange
flowers. This was 32 years ago and
I only got my flowers framed earlier
this year – I still love them!
Proudest stitching moment?
When I finished my fifth child’s birth
sampler. It took me about three years
in between a busy mothering life.
Getting it framed and putting it up
with the others was a great feeling!
Fave themes to stitch?
I love doing mystic and animal-
themed projects.
Next project?
I have my eye on
Peter Underhill’s
cute ‘Cats and
Biscuits’ design.

When did you start stitching?
My auntie taught me when I was 13
for a Girlguiding badge and I’ve been
a stitcher ever since.
Who are your stitching
buddies?
My husband is my
stitching buddy –
I taught him how to
cross stitch.
Your best
stitching tip?
The best stitching
tip I ever received
was to buy a needle minder and it
was a godsend! I wouldn’t be without
my collection of them now.
Recent fave WOXS design?
I’ve done three of the ‘Beaded
Tree Cards’ patterns from issue
286 (November 2019). They’re my
favourite because they’re just simple
and elegant – perfect on cards.
Technique you’d like to try?
I want to try blackwork. I haven’t
quite got to grips with that yet.

Favourite project style?
I enjoy all sorts of projects, but I love
doing personalised projects such
as 18th and 50th birthday cards, and
recently 25th anniversary cards.
Fave WOXS design?
The festive puns from the December
2019 issue (287). I stitched a few as
tags on presents for my friends and
family – they were great!
What has been your favourite
cross stitch project?
My favourite project has been
stitching a photo of my family. It took
me a long time to finish, but it looks
so much like the original photo and
that makes the project extra special.
What do you love most about
cross stitching?
Finding a project that I know
someone will like and then giving it
to them.
Last thing you
stitched as a gift?
I stitched a 3D
gnome for my mum.
