ALIENWARE’SHANDHELD PC

It’s only at the prototype stage, but the Alienware Concept UFOisdripping with potential.
It’s more or lessaNintendoSwitchforPCgames: removable controllers attachtoeither
sideofan 8in display, which also hasakickstandtoact asaportable monitor.Itcan also
outputtoalarger screen, like botharegular PC and–again–aSwitch.
It’s an exciting idea thatavoids the connection issuesofstreaming gamestoamobile
device, and could make PC gaming more accessibletothose who don’t wantabigcase
and monitor in their house.Even if the Concept UFOonlyever remainsaconcept, it’s an
intriguing one.

FOLDING SCREENS

FORLAPTOPS

Foldable displays might have gotoffto a
spluttering start on phones, but that didn’t
stopLenovo,Dell and Intel all showingoff
laptops with bendy screens.
TheLenovo ThinkPad X1Fold (above) and
Dell Concept Ori are both quitesmall in their
standard configurations, where the lower half
ofthe screen is occupiedbyakeyboard or
drawing space while thetophalfacts as a
conventional display.However,fold them flat
and flip them sideways, and theycan become
eitheraspacious tablet oracompactall-in-one
PC if youaddamouse and keyboard. The
Intel Horseshoe Bend prototype is very
similar,butabitlarger,somight be more
comfortabletouseinaregular laptop mode.
