Overtheyearswehavehada mixedreaction
toguestspeakerssonowwepreferthe
workshopswherewegethands-onandhave
picturestotakeawayfromthesession.Maybe
thiswillbesomethingwelookat in thefuture.
Domemberscompetein regionalor
nationalcompetitions?
Ascompetitionsarenotthemainfocusof our
club,wedonotenterintoregionalornational
competitions.Wedecidedtobea littledifferent
andoffersomethingmoreunique– weonly
havefivein-housecompetitionsthisyear
whereweactivelyencouragecompositesand
the use of post-processing software. Club
membersvotefortheirfavouriteimagesbased
onimagequality,originality,artisticmerit,
exposureandcolour,aswellascomposition
andfocus.Clubofficialscritiquethese
competitionsbutalsousethisasan
opportunitytoencouragerandommembersto
havea goat critiquing.Ourannualcompetition
howeveris alwaysjudgedandcritiquedbyan
externaljudge.Theclubalsoholdslocal
exhibitionstwicea yearin theBodminShire
Hall.Ournextexhibitionis from 27 Juneto
10 July.Therewillbea furtherexhibitionin
October,givinga chancefora member of the
publictowintheirfavouriteprint.

planned?
Duringthesummerwehaveweeklyoutings.
Livingin beautifulCornwallwedon’thaveto
travelfarforsomeof themoststunning
locations in the UK. Bodmin Moor has offi cially
beendesignatedasanInternationalDarkSky
LandscapebytheInternationalDark-Sky
Association,givingaccessforourmembersto
gooutregularlytoshootastrophotography in
oneof thebestlocationsin theUK.
Howmanymembersdoyouhave?
Wehave 35 membersin theclubof different
levels,witharound 30 attendingourmeetings.
Whataretheclub’sgoalsforthefuture?
Ournextmaingoalfortheclubis toinvestin
newequipmenttofurtherhelpwiththe
teachingandsupporttoourmembers.Thiswill
alsohelpusdevelopourinteractionwiththe
localcommunity.Wearecarryingout
fundraisingeventsandwillshortlybemakinga
lottery application for the balance of funds.
