thisyear.Theideaof a full-frame,L-mount
modelbasedontheFoveonchipwas
originallyfloatedat Photokina2018,with
furtherdetailscomingoutat lastyear’sCP+
showin Japan.
‘Wehaveworkeddiligentlyonthe
developmenttomeetourcommitment,’said
CEOKazutoYamaki.‘Asa resultof careful
andrigoroustestingbasedonthelatest
developmentinformation,however,it has
becomeclearthatthelaunchof sucha
camerawouldbeinfeasiblewithinthisyear.
Stillat thispoint,wecannotsayforcertain
whenthefull-frameFoveonX3sensorwill
beputintomassproduction...Wehave
thereforedecidedthatweshouldstartover
theprojectwitha cleanslate,puttingthe
productionplanforthisnewcamerabackto
thedrawingboardandgoingbacktothe
developmentof sensortechnologies.’

‘Myinterestforphotographybeganin 2007
whenI boughtmyfirstDSLRcameraand
signedupfora phototourtotheSouthwest
USA,’Ershovexplained.‘I wasstruckbythe
tremendousvarietyof landscapes,coloursand
texturesfoundin nature.Sincethen,I spend
allmyfreetimeimprovingmyskillsand
knowledge in landscape photography. I usually
spendsixweeksa yearonphototrips,
sometimesin groups,oftenonmyown.’

toFrenchphotographerMagaliChesnelforan
overheadshotof a saltmarshbeingharvested,
andSanderGrefteof theNetherlandswon
second-placedsingleimagefora viewof salt
pilesandcondenserpondsin Bonairein the
DutchCarribean.Themainwinnerssharea

thisshowis thatvisitorscanactuallyhandlethe
newestcamerasandrelatedequipment...the
eventattractsaround70,000unspecified
visitorsandthereforewecannotcompletely
eliminateallriskof infection,’theorganisers
explainedin a statement.Althoughthereare
stillrelativelyfewcasesof coronavirusin Japan,
previousCP+showshaveattracteda sizeable
numberof exhibitorsfromChina.Moreover,a
