TheUFOis stillattheconcept stage

Howmuchwillit cost?
Again,Alienwarehasn’t revealed details

Do I really need it?
If you’re an avid PC gamer, then you’re
likely to love the UFO. It will grant
access to any PC games service such as
Origin, Good Old Games, Epic Games
Store and, of course, Steam, potentially
putting many thousands of games in
your hands.

Whyis it interesting?
Foldable devices use flexible display
technology, which can be used to make
larger screens smaller and easier to carry.
The most impressive trend is to have a
bend in the screen, as with Lenovo’s
ThinkPad X1 Fold laptop (see last issue’s
First Look). This is also the design
adopted by the Intel Horseshoe Bend, a
device based on the forthcoming Tiger
Lake mobile processor, which can switch
between laptop and tablet.
Bendy tech is also used by Dell’s Ori
concept tablet, which runs Windows 10.
However, it’s interesting to note that the
dual-screen Dell Duet laptop opts
instead for a hinge connecting the two
displays, as well as an optional keyboard.
Other eye-catching foldables at CES

includedRoyole’sMirage, which wraps
around a curved Alexa-enabled speaker.
Meanwhile, LG showcased a television
that can convert from a flat OLED to a
curved set at thepress of a button.

When are they
out?
The ThinkPadX1F
is due later thisye
but the Horseshoe
Bend, which open
from 12in intoa 17
display, is a conce
product – as aret
Duet and the 4KL
television. TheMir
will be availablein
spring of 2020.

How much will they cost?
Deep breath – you’re looking at about
£2,500 for the ThinkPad X1 Fold and
about £799fortheMirage.
