and required several trips to the shops
and long telephone calls. Additionally, I’d
have to buy and set up new SIMs on each
trip because they expired unless topped
up regularly.
I have a tariff on my iPhone that ‘rolls
over’ and I almost never use my whole
data allowance. I know that prior to
going away I could get some extra data,
but I’m not sure if that would cover me
for expensive calls in the US.
I would like to suggest an article
explaining how to use mobile phones
outside the UK. Maybe there are other
readers out there who would benefit, too,
or who could offer some advice?

Problem with link for
Dr WiFi app
I was keen to try the Dr WiFi app, as
featured in your workshop on page 56
of Issue 492, but the Bitly link was not
recognised and led to a Google Play
error message saying: “We’re sorry, the
requested URL was not found on this
server”.
Searching the Play store for ‘dr wifi’
did not find any app with the logo you
show in the magazine, and the
screenshots for the app at the top of the
Play Store list did not look like the
screenshots shown in your article.
Tony Whitmarsh, via email

Web User says: Unfortunately, it appears
that Trend Micro’s Dr WiFi app was
removed from the Google Play store
after we went to press with the issue,
hence the ‘not found’ error when you
used the Bitly link provided in the
magazine. As you
discovered, the
other Dr WiFi app
in the store is a
different app from
another developer.
We’re not sure
why the app was
removed, but it can
still be ‘sideloaded’
to your Android phone if you download
the APK file from Softpedia at bit.ly/
drwifi494. To allow this, you’ll first need
to go to Settings, ‘Apps & notifications’,
Advanced, ‘Special app access’ and
choose ‘Install unknown apps’. Tap your
default browser and switch on ‘Allow
from this source’. Please accept our
apologies for the inconvenience caused.

HOULD TWITTER ALLOW
USERS TO EDIT THEIR
TWEETS (bit.ly/tweets494)?

Yes, but with a footnote under the
tweet to show that it’s been edited.
Ady Colclough @AdyC76

Absolutely, it’s a right pain having to
delete and redo a tweet to correct a
typo. People have been requesting the
ability to edit tweets for ages.
Russell Cox @RussWWFC

I’d rather see bots banned and Twitter
users having to use their real names!
Roger Whitcomb @milairpix

Definitely – for spelling errors, at least.
Henley on Thames Blogger
@on_blogger

Yes. Maybe a function to delay
sending the tweet for 20 seconds –
long enough to spot a typo or think
again about saying something?
Caroline Chapman @cantstopthesgnl

Yes, because autocorrect often
changes an alien word to something
random. You should have 30 seconds
toedityourtweetafterposting.

ILL YOU SUBSCRIBE
TO DISNEY+ WHEN IT
LAUNCHES NEXT MONTH
(bit.ly/disney494)?

No, I have to draw the line somewhere
as the cost of all these services soon
becomes prohibitive. With more
streaming companies popping up all
the time, I fully expect pirated content
to make a resurgence because people
won’t pay for so many services when
they probably only want one or two
programmes from many of them.
Rich Grove

No! There are too many streaming
services jumping on the bandwagon
now, with BritBox being another.
There should be ad-supported
versions like Spotify for those who
only use the services occasionally.
David P-Smith @david_p_s

It’s getting awkward with so many
services to subscribe to. The thing is
that I do want to watch all the Marvel
shows when they come out. So I will
probably subscribe for a while and
then cancel once I’ve watched them.
Sam Higgins

No, because I’m already struggling to
find the time to watch Netflix, BBC
iPlayer and Amazon Prime Video.
Chris Armstrong

No. There are too many channels to
watch on Freeview already without
paying for more.
John Hewett

Keeping the kids quiet is worth the
subscription fee.
