Circa 1880 Nine-Patch, above, is my most cherished quilt because

when I look at it, I recall the friendships that created it. The quilt

grew out of my desire to re-create an antique quilt I admired. I

asked fellow quilters to join me in the eff ort, and we traded blocks

to make it as scrappy as possible. As a result, the quilt contains

hundreds of blocks made by beloved friends from diff erent states.

Additionally, I cherish this quilt because it resonated with

quilters across the country when quilt shops off ered it as a club. It

brings me joy to know others are making memories as they create

their versions of it.
