201 ⁄ 2 ” square lay out wool appliqué
shapes, making sure pieces are at least

(^1) ⁄ 4 " from edges of square. Fuse pieces
in place following manufacturer’s
instructions.

Using cotton sewing thread in
colors that match appliqués,
whipstitch appliqués in place.

Using black perle cotton, stem-
stitch edges of all G circles and
backstitch lines connecting G circles to
F flowers (see photos 1–5, page 77).

for backstitch, blanket stitch,
