You’ve spoken about this before, but just how big has the
manager’s influence been on you as an individual?
Massive. He gives us a lot of freedom so it’s very much that
the players play to their strengths and are able to do that in
different ways in the systems that we play. I think it’s important
that the team buys into that and the manager obviously
understands what we need to do to win games.
He’s been like that for all the time he’s been here and he’s
transformed the club in an amazing way. Going forward, there’ll
hopefully be a lot more success with him.
There are now four months of the season to go, so what are
your targets?
Keep trying to perform well, keep getting wins as a team, clean-
sheets and see what happens at the end of the season.
Obviously the main objective is to win things with the team.
The team trophies are more of a target than the individual ones,
but they come hand-in-hand, really. The more team trophies
you win, the more individual ones will come.
So hopefully the focus will just be on winning things with
Liverpool and then if anything does happen on an individual
basis that’s an extra. But like I said, it’s just a team focus at the
minute.
