When launching the Apple Watch Series
5 last autumn, Jeff Williams, Apple’s
chief operating officer, said: “We’ve seen
Apple Watch have a meaningful impact
on our customers’ lives and we’re excited
to deliver even more capabilities with
Apple Watch Series 5 and watchOS 6. The
seamless integration of new hardware and
software delivers an enhanced experience
that makes it even easier to stay active and
connected to the people and information
users care about.”
Apple Watch is only going to get
better, too. Take the ECG app as an
example. The app has the ability to detect
abnormal heart rhythms by performing
an electrocardiogram test – a process
previously confined to hospitals. It is
believed to be capable of detecting a
serious heart issue in seconds. It’s features
like this that are inspiring a new generation
to wear watches, and that’s bad news for
those downtrodden Swiss watchmakers.
