YOUR
KIND ACTS
These generous deeds shared
by WD readers are a great
example of what happens when
action follows heart.
Joyce
Garrett began
volunteering
at her local
hospital 17
years ago.
Fast-forward
age of 92, she
continues to
work at the
information desk. She also has
knitted over 200 baby sweaters
(sold in the hospital’s gift shop),
stuffed numerous cough
pillows for cardiac patients,
and sewn more than 2,100
walker bags for the rehab
patients. And she shows no
sign of slowing down. We
appreciate her so much.

Christina (far right) and
the Vienna Essentials.
My mom and I
leave the house every
weekday at 5:30 a.m.
for Mass. On our way
to church, we always see
homeless folks on the
street, so we decided to
put together gift bags
for them containing
a bottle of water, some
peanut butter crackers
and cookies for energy,
a prayer card for spiritual
encouragement, and
information about local
shelters should anyone
need assistance.
TINA FELDMANN, Riverside, CA
Two years ago, my friends
and I started a singing group
called the Vienna Essentials
to share music at senior
living and nursing homes.
We do solos, perform
together, and include
sing-alongs. I love how our
listeners’ faces light up when
we invite them to join in
on songs they recognize,
like “You Are My Sunshine,”
“What a Wonderful World,”
and “Lean on Me.”
