Jewelled beauty

In October 2017 I finished cross stitching this

beautiful Kingfisher design by Maria Diaz

from issue 138, and

last December I

finally framed it.

I love to stitch

larger projects

of animals

and flowers, so

Gold is the right

place to find

great designs. I’ve

almost completed

the Sunflower Bouquet from issue 130, and

will send a picture as soon as I finish!

Hennie van der Duim, The Netherlands

Zeena: Your kingfisher is beautiful, Hennie.

I bet the sunflowers will be just as exquisite.

Terrific trio
Here are a few of my projects that I am really
proud of completing. The swans were a
Russian kit and there were so many shades
of blues and whites, but I am so glad I
persevered with it as I think it looks stunning.
The poppies were the first time I had ever tried
blackwork – it was daunting to try something
new, but I actually finished this kit from Bothy
Threads quite quickly. The tigers were a gift

I made in secret for my husband, who loves
these majestic creatures. As I had to pick it up
and do some stitching whilst he was out and
then put it away when he was at home, I never
thought I would get it finished. When I gave
it to him for Christmas last year, he absolutely
loved it and now it hangs on the wall where
he can see it every day. He didn’t have a clue
how I managed to get it done without him
seeing it – and to this day, neither do I!
Jennifer Moville, Merseyside
Zeena: What stunning designs, Jennifer. I can’t
believe you finished those tigers in secret either!

Wedding belles
I have stitched several pieces for family and
friends, including this piece for my niece’s
wedding. It took about six months to design
and stitch. I also completed a different
wedding project for her sister four years before,
but unfortunately I don’t have a photograph of
that one to share.
Anne Matthews,
Co Kilkenny
Zeena: This is
lovely, Anne –
I’m sure both
nieces were
delighted with
their special
wedding gifts.

I just finished this Casting Spells
kit by Bothy Threads. I loved every
single stitch, and now it will have a
place of honour in my living room. It
has already received the compliments
of my husband and my neighbour,
and I think it will enchant everyone
who sees it! Thank you for your
wonderful magazine!
Camilla Maffiuletti, Italy
Zeena: I love this enchanting design,
too, Camilla – no wonder it’s received
so many compliments. The printed
aida adds so much atmosphere,
while sequins finish it off with a bit
of magic and sparkle. Well done!
