ALTHOUGH IT SHOWS UP VIA DIFFERENT MEDIA, THE

most fielded question at Steve and Brooke Giannetti’s Santa
Barbara-based design firm is always the same: “Can you
give me a home like yours?” Brooke, who handles the design
component of her husband’s architectural projects, says,
“Phone calls, emails, Instagram DMs—it’s a daily thing.”
People know and love the 31-years-married couple from
books, a blog, and social media. So what is it about their style
that everyone covets? Although a lot of designers pay lip
service to the idea of designing for your life, the Giannettis’
Ojai farm embodies that authenticity, with natural linen
slipcovers, unpolished wood floors, and windows that peer
over intimate garden rooms and their family of animals,
including chickens, donkeys, and pygmy goats.
Of course, not everyone can have a 5-acre farmstead at
the foot of the Topatopa Mountains, but they can create a
slice of country heaven wherever they live. Currently, Steve
and Brooke are designing a farmhouse-style residence for a
client in Los Angeles. “These homeowners know that using
natural materials and embracing the imperfections is a
much nicer and more relaxed way to live,” Brooke says.

The design power couple
releases a third book about
the charmed life on their
California Patina Farm.
