CLOCKWISE, FROM TOP LEFT In the entry, candelabra and brass crucifixes from old
churches in Europe share pride of place with a French ironing table. A concrete fire pit keeps
the party going on cool evenings. Hand-painted encaustic tiles installed floor to ceiling in the
powder room offer a splash of pattern in an otherwise monochromatic design plan. “It’s the
only color in the whole house, so I went all out,” Angie says. The floating sink is a carved piece
of quartz. The easel, which is covered in years of splatters from previous artists, gives Angie
inspiration. “I just play; I’m not good at all,” she says of her painting hobby. A friend who is a chef
and owns a restaurant downtown grows vegetables and herbs in the Cavaliers’ raised garden
beds. The inside wall of an old closet now displays its years for all to see under the stairway.
