OPPOSITE Placed in the home’s original
breezeway, the dining room still has its ceiling
joists, which had been painted multiple colors.
The joists were sanded, but the floor was not.
“We wanted it to look like people had walked on
it for 200 years,” homeowner Doug Lackey says.

were dismantled, sanded, and reinstalled, and
now are revealed behind new shelves.
