USE A WHITE
CUP FOR A
MODERN LOOK
OR AN ORNATE
ONE FOR A
VINTAGE FEEL.
HOW TO MAKE IT
For this project, purchase a few 2-inch succulents
at the nursery. The plants are shallow-rooted so
will live happily in a teacup.
PREP For drainage, drill a hole in the cup
bottom. Fill with a cactus potting soil; it drains fast
to keep succulents ’ roots happy.
PL AN T Place a focal point (echeveria,
above) in the center, midsize plants such as string
of buttons along the edges, and a trailer like
string-of-pearls in the front.
CAR E A window that gets six to eight hours
of bright sun is ideal. Water thoroughly when the
soil is completely dry. ■

For a Mother’s Day gift that’s as pretty
as a bouquet (but less expected), pot
up succulents in a sweet little vessel.
