In my experience the fresh powder
after a storm is the absolute best quality
snow one can ski. It’s just difficult to
capture that feeling in a photograph due
to the lack of contrast. So I brought along
a couple of 640W studio strobes rigged
onto backpacks and weather-proofed.
I worked closely with the athlete to pick
out a suitable piece of terrain. We figured
out where the action would occur and
I worked my way into position without
disturbing the snow in frame.
