Aperture-priority mode allows you
to prioritise the aperture settings,
leaving the camera to automatically
adjust exposure and ISO. Wider
apertures (lower f-numbers)
provide you with a shallow depth-
of-field, meaning you can focus
on just one aspect of your frame.
These settings are generally used

for portrait or wildlife photography
as it is easier to isolate your main
focal point from the background.
A narrow aperture (high f-number)
means a larger portion of your
image will be in focus – great for
landscapes. Aperture-priority
mode is abbreviated as Av on the
Canon dial and A on Nikon.
