TheUniversityofChicago’sDepartmentofMedicine,SectionofGastroenterology,
HepatologyandNutrition,issearchingforafull-timefacultymemberatany
ranktojoinourrapidlygrowingCenterforLiverDiseases.Theappointeewill
haveamixofoutpatientandinpatientclinicalresponsibilities,includinggeneral
hepatologyandlivertransplantserviceandconsultationatmultiplesitesinthe
Chicagoarea.Otherdutieswill includeteachingandsupervisionoftraineesand
students,andscholarlyactivity.Weespeciallywelcomeapplicantswithadvanced
trainingintransplanthepatology.Academicrankandcompensation(includinga
generous package of fringe benefts) are dependent upon qualifcations.
Prior to the start of employment, quali.ed applicants must: (1) have an medical
doctorate or equivalent, (2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State
of Illinois, (3) be Board Certi.ed or Eligible in Gastroenterology, and (4) have
expertise in clinical and research (basic or translational) aspects of nonalcoholic
fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

facultycandidateswithanestablishedresearchprograminintegrativesystems
physiology, spanning from gene to whole organism, with specifc interests in
thecardiovascularsystem,metabolism(diabetes/obesity),musclephysiology,
stress physiology and related felds. Substantial resources, with state-of-the-art
researchspace,iscommittedtothiseffort.Successfulcandidateswill havean
establishedandinnovativeresearchprogramthatembracesbiologicalcomplexity
andphysiologyfrommolecularbuildingblockstothelivingorganismandhuman
disease.Applicantsmusthaveastrongrecordofresearchaccomplishments,as
documented by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals along with an
outstandingrecordofextramuralfunding.MinimumrequirementsareaPhD,
MDorMD/PhDwithtenureatanacademicresearchinstitution.TheDepartment
isacentralpartofthenewlyestablishedBiomedicalDiscoveryDistrictatthe
UMN and hosts a state-of-the-art Core facility for cardio-metabolic phenotyping
(IBPPhenotypingCore).TheDepartmentisanintegralcomponentofInstitutes/
CentersincludingtheInstituteforDiabetes,ObesityandMetabolism,Lillehei
HeartInstitute,InstitutefortheBiologyofAgingandMetabolism,Masonic
Cancer Center, Center for Immunology, with exceptional on-site research core
