Flirt Magazine March

(Flirt Magazine) #1

As I move from side to side,
I duck the whole way across trying to remain out of
the way and be conscience of my surroundings and
not wanting to ruin a concert goers experience. I find
that most fans get the deal, we are working in the pit,
and they know we will be out of their way soon. I love
getting close and personal with bands and having them
interact with my lens which can lead to some fantastic
photos! Not always important, but sometimes it gives
that extra personal perspective and experience for fans
of rock concert photography, as if they are right there
with me.

11 What was your least favorite band to shoot?
There is really no one particular band that I don’t like
to shoot, it’s all a challenge. My least favorite situation
is soundboard only shoots, which usually puts you
far from the action, even though I’m armed with a
telephoto lens, I get a sense of dis-connect – and the
vibe just isn’t as intense – and that really is what drives
me to want to do this in the first place. So it’s just not
as rewarding or exciting, so it takes away from the
whole experience.
Also bands that insist on using so much smoke in the
time allotted for photographers to shoot (If you aren’t

shooting the whole show) – It’s a drag!

12 What was your favorite band to shoot and why?
Toss up. Sorry, bending the rule. TWISTED SISTER
and ALICE COOPER.
Twisted Sister because of the energy, the challenge of
the high paced action, the excitement that band brings
it’s intoxicating !! – Just want to mention THANK
YOU to DANNY STANTON for always making my
dreams of shooting Twisted come true, time and time
again! & RIP AJ Pero!
ALICE COOPER – He always delivers a spectacular
stage show, always something different, interesting, so
much to look at and so many different shots you can
get that are so unique and dynamic – The theatrics are
second to none and it’s an honor to shoot a legend such
as himself and his band.
