Brian Gibbs is an Apple IT and graphic application specialist in his day job and also a pinup artist who specializes in
vector based artwork using Adobe Illustrator. Also Tattoo Shop Manager for Illuminati Tattoo in Orewa New Zealand.
Brian began using Illustrator before 1988, so he has been involved with computer design since its inception and found it a great way
to extend and develop new creative avenues. He has been creating commercial illustration for brand names such as BMW, Porsche,
Renault, Casio etc for over 20 years.
After deciding to try the pinup illustrations a number of years ago with the aim of being published worldwide, after 3 years, he managed
to realise that goal within 2 years and is very grateful to Schiffer Publishing ‘The Contemporary Illustrated Pin-up’ for requesting
submissions of his artwork, and also to so grateful to all the great models and photographers he deals with now on a daily basis, they are
the best in the business and life is always interesting working with such diverse and creative people.
Brians’ background and education is from graphic design, originally a designer for an advertising agency and then newspapers. With
the introduction of computers to the industry he decided that was the direction he wanted to follow. As a self taught illustrator (no
formal training was available during those early trail blazing days) he has managed to learn and excel drawing in the digital world,
transforming ideas from the stuff of carbon and paper to pixels and is today recognized among the top 300 illustrators in the world.
His work is published online and printed. The Contemporary Illustrated Pin-Up Book, BIZSU Magazine, Marquis, Tease and Cake, The
Move Magazine, Computer Arts Online are just some of the places you can see Brian’s work. He is also the Official artist for DevilStar
Entertainment.
