sleek “Black Swan” on The Late Late Show
with James Corden, and now one of Korea’s
biggest musical exports - the boy band BTS -
bring that sexy song and an array of others in
this, their seventh studio album, which finds
them in reflective mood.

1. MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 succeeds the band’s
   2019 extended play MAP OF THE SOUL :
   PERSONA, five songs of which feature on the
   new album, too.


2. This album’s lead single, “Black Swan”, was
   released on January 17, 2020.


3. The second single, “ON”, followed on
   February 21.


4. The band’s name, BTS, refers to the Korean
   expression “Bangtan Sonyeondan”, which
   literally translates into English as “Bulletproof
   Boy Scouts”.


5. BTS member J-Hope has explained that
   the group’s name reflects its mission “to
   block out stereotypes, criticisms and
   expectations that aim on adolescents
   like bullets”.
