I must admit, I really had not heard
of British brand Cabbages & Roses
before I heard about this afternoon
tea offering at the Hyatt Regency in
London. So, I did my research and
discovered that they’re renowned for
“quintessentially British fashion and
fabric”. How cool is it that the Hyatt
constantly updates and themes its
afternoon teas?! With the Cabbages
& Roses team, they’ve created a
beautifully vintage, shabby-chic, floral
themed AT.

Afternoon tea at the Hyatt is served
in The Montagu, which is a light
and airy space, and the Cabbages &
Roses display of vintage crates and
abundance of plants and flowers (and
my favourite hydrangeas!) provided
a beautiful backdrop for this AT. Ooh,
and even before AT is served, you’re
offered a fab, fruity cocktail called the
Bramble Royal – “Celebrating all things
British and designed using the hotel’s
Churchill Bar’s very own Churchill
Craft Gin, created with the Scared
London Distillery, the ‘Bramble Royale’
is infused with a Crème Des Mure and
Wild Berry purée and topped with
English Sparkling Wine, Nyetimber.”
Just stunning!

Travel - Taste - Try

But, that wasn’t the only cocktail-y
looking item on the menu. Check out
the chilled cucumber foam soup! So
wonderfully light and tasting of British
summertime, it’s the perfect amuse
bouche. There is also a Champagne
jelly served with fresh raspberries, and
so gloriously ombré’d! Both of these
treats were also served in cocktail
glasses, making the AT all the more
visually appealing.

One thing that the Hyatt never fails
to deliver on is their attention to
detail. You only need to look at the
presentation of their AT and the
precision they use for not only their
patisserie, but also their ‘sandwich
selection’ part of the tea. Their
coronation chicken cones, smoked
salmon macarons and prawn cocktail
were beautifully served on the three-
tier vintage-y/floral themed cake
stand, along with dainty little pots
of chicken liver pâté with melba
toast. The scone course was also
scrumptious, served with fresh clotted
cream, strawberry jam AND lemon
curd, which is always a bonus. I should
mention that the tea selection on offer
was also stunning, and the Rooibos tea
I opted for perfectly complemented
this AT. I loved that the team also
