Step 47.
It should look like this with all three pieces of the sketch
in place.

Step 48.
With a pencil, start retracing your sketch onto the
fondant as shown.
TIP: You have to bridge the gap between tiers. The
template allows for this. As it is a round cake, having
a continuous drawing draped over the cake is very
difficult.

Step 49.
You will see a faint impression on the fondant as a
guide for your painting.
TIP: Too much pressure and you might damage the
sugarpaste. Too little and you will not transfer your
drawing onto the sugarpaste. You can use pencil on the
back of the sketch but you have to make sure it does not
contain lead. Alternatively, you can trace the sketch on
the back using an edible pen and then retrace it onto
the sugarpaste if you do not mind the black faint lines.
You can also use a scribe and trace your main drawing.

Step 50.
Mix some vodka with Olive colour. It is a watercolour
painting, so for the best results, make several shades of
green by mixing different quantities of vodka and the
paste colour.

Steps 51a & b.
Your first green layer has to be the very lightest possible
using the no. 12 brush. Leave to dry before applying a
second layer of mix.

Instead of long strokes, smudge a darker mix of green
around the edges of your painted leaves, thus giving
some depth. Leave again to dry before applying more
colour.

Steps 51c & d.
Maintaining the smudging rather than stroking
approach, add another darker layer around the edges.
Use a fine brush and darker green mix to start painting
around the edges and some details. Do not worry if you
get out of line. It is more of a sketch colour painting
rather than a perfectly defined outline.

Step 52.
Mix vodka and Pink gel colour and repeat Steps 51a-d
for a couple of the flowers.

Step 53.
Repeat Step 51 with Poppy and Purple gel colours to
paint a couple of the flowers of each.
