  • (You can change the platforms
    to suit your needs if you want to
    change the shape or size of your

    Cakes, filling and covering:

  • 11” hexagonal cake (triple layer
    sponge)

  • 10” round cake (double layer
    sponge)

  • 8” round cake (single layer
    sponge, split in half)

  • 6” round cake (single layer
    sponge, split in half)

  • Filling of your choice

  • 1.5kg of ganache for crumb/

    white Massa Ticino

    range from JEM cutters, Designer
    Stencils and my own Dinkydoodle
    airbrush grass stencil

Cake Tutorial


Dawn Butler is an award-winning cake decorator who
specialises in novelty cakes. She has been a cake decorator
for over five years and teaches internationally, as well as
creating new products for her two brands: Dinkydoodle
Designs and CakeFrame. Dawn was recently awarded Best
in Show for her Einstein cake at Cake International, London
2016.

Pillars in wedding cakes are making a real comeback, and
whilst the outdated columns hopefully won’t be seen again,
a separate cake design really does add elegance and an air of
importance to a setting. The pillars on this design are actually
CakeFrame, but Dawn has decorated them to look like real
stone pillars. The beauty of CakeFrame is that it’s clear, so
you don’t actually have to cover them up at all! Because
they’re hollow, they’ll also take lighting and other electrical
wiring – think of the fun you could have with that!
