Steps 15a-d.
Airbrush the cake in two separate halves (the bottom
two tiers and top two tiers separately). The bottom two
in greens and pinks and the top two in blues and greens.
This airbrushing technique couldn’t be easier! Simply
keep your distance from the cake and keep your spray
light and wide. Spray in patches over the cake until the
cake is covered.

To add a suggestion of plants, I’ve used parts of stencils
that I already had. Stay very close with the airbrush and
select just the parts you want to use. I found the fern
from a JEM stencil and small blossoms from the roses
and berries Designer Stencils very useful for this. Plus,
my own Dinkydoodle grass stencil of course! I added
more variation by changing the colour of the stencils I
was spraying (for instance, blossoms in pink, blue and
violet and different greens for the leaves etc).

Steps 16a-c.
Create a cobble effect to cover the remainder of the 14”
board and a patch on top of the 10” cake between the
pillars. I used a Petal Craft impression mat, but you could
create your own effect by rolling small balls of paste and
building the cobble by hand.

To add a stone effect to the cobbles, use a mixture of
Dinkydoodle White Matt, Black Matt and the water
based Brown to create airbrush speckles. To make your
airbrush spit, simply remove the end of the airbrush
brush (where the colour comes out) and stay close
to the project. Your airbrush won’t spray, but when
you pull the trigger backwards and forwards in short
movements, it will spit speckles all over your work,
looking like stone when done in various shades of
browns, greys and white. You can also use this technique
for stone effect decorations, such as the cherub moulds
I’ve used.

Steps 17a & b.
You can now assemble your cake (there’s nothing
stopping you from transporting it separately afterwards).
Simply push the pillar rods onto the structure and place
the top two tiers onto the pillars, making sure that all
the holes are lined up correctly.
