beimaginary?Therearetwoschoolsofthought,andinbothcases
usingpost-productiontobestrepresentyourcreativity isnecessary.
Inthedaysoffilm,afterthenegativewasexposedand
processed,a printwouldbemadeasa secondstageofcreativity.
It wasa two-stepprocess– capturefollowedbypost-production.
Withdigitalphotography,theprocessisthesame.Wecanthink
ofourRAWfilesasournegatives,whileourpost-productionisthe
makingofa fileforprintingorsocialmedia.
Forme,it’sthepost-productionthatgivesustheopportunity
tobedifferent,toexpressourselves,toexploredifferentideasof
seeingandwaysofthinking.Camerasdoonethingonly:makean
exposure.Butpost-productiongivesusnumerouscreativeavenues.Intheearlydaysofdigitalphotography,Photoshopwastheking
ofpost-production,andbeinga successfullandscapephotographer
meantmasteringthesoftware.However,Lightroomarrivedand
madeprocessingourfilesquickerandeasier,evenif it wasn’tquite
aspowerfulasPhotoshop.Butformostlandscapephotographers,
it didn’tneedtobemorepowerful,especiallyif youweren’tinto
creatingimaginarylandscapeswithcomposites.
Today,LightroomandCaptureOnewillenableyoutomaster
mostaspectsoflandscapephotography,andfromthereit’sa
smallersteptoengagingwithPhotoshop.Onthefollowingpages,
