CombineimagesAdda layer mask to
thetoplayerandselectthe Brush tool.
Makesuretheforegroundcolour is black
andtheopacityisat80-100% (depending
onthesceneyou’reworkingwith). Paint in
theskyfromthelongexposure on the layer
below,payingattentionnotto bring in the
partsyou’reattemptingtoremove. Flatten
imageswhenfinishedandmake any further
adjustmentstotheimageyou deem necessary.

ProcesstheimageMakesimilar
adjustmentstoboththereference image
andlong-exposureshotinLightroom to ensure
thattheymatchupwhenedited together in
Photoshop.Usuallythisinvolves tweaking
thewhitebalance,highlights,shadows,
contrastandensuringtheRemove Chromatic
Aberrationsoptionishighlighted.

OpeninPhotoshopOnce you’re happy
withthetwoimages,open them up in
Photoshop.Todothis,selectboth images,
clickPhotofromthetopmenu and scroll down
toEditin>OpenasLayersinPhotoshop. This
willopenthetwofilesaslayers in one file.

AlignandlayerupMake sure the two
imagesareproperlyaligned, and that
thereferencephotoisontopwhile the long
exposureisthebottomlayer.If you shot on
a tripod,thereshouldbeverylittle difference
betweenthetwo,butit’sbestto make sure.
Highlightboththelayersandthen go to
Edit>Auto-AlignLayers.
