Volkswagen has revealed a performance
version of its largest SUV – and it’s a plug-in
hybrid. A 2.9-litre turbo V6 and an electric
motor give a combined 456bhp, allowing
the big 4x4 to sprint from 0-62mph in about
5.0sec, and it can cover up to 30 miles on
electric power only. Looks-wise, the Touareg
R gets a subtle bodykit, gloss black trim
and 20in alloy wheels. Price £75,000 (est)

and ranging from 365bhp to more than
600bhp. Plus, rear seats and a fabric
