Color Theory

Soccer Mommy

The Nashville singer-songwriter Sophia
Regina Allison, known by the stage name
Soccer Mommy, is showing a strongly
reflective side on her second studio album,
color theory – where depression, anxiety
and loneliness evidence themselves as
common themes.

FIVE FACTS:

  1. The album is arranged into three sections:
    “blue”, “yellow” and “gray”.

  2. The “blue” section focuses on depression
and sadness and the “yellow” section is about
physical and mental illness, while the “gray”
    section symbolizes darkness and emptiness.

  3. As Allison explained to Apple Music, the
song “night swimming” is “about loneliness
and about feeling like there’s always a
distance between you and other people.”

  4. Allison has cited Taylor Swift and Avril
    Lavigne among her musical influences.

  5. In February 2020, Allison performed at one
of the presidential rallies of Bernie Sanders,
whose 2020 presidential campaign she has
    openly endorsed.
