Color Theory
Soccer Mommy
The Nashville singer-songwriter Sophia
Regina Allison, known by the stage name
Soccer Mommy, is showing a strongly
reflective side on her second studio album,
color theory – where depression, anxiety
and loneliness evidence themselves as
common themes.
FIVE FACTS:
- The album is arranged into three sections:
“blue”, “yellow” and “gray”. - The “blue” section focuses on depression
and sadness and the “yellow” section is about
physical and mental illness, while the “gray”
section symbolizes darkness and emptiness. - As Allison explained to Apple Music, the
song “night swimming” is “about loneliness
and about feeling like there’s always a
distance between you and other people.” - Allison has cited Taylor Swift and Avril
Lavigne among her musical influences. - In February 2020, Allison performed at one
of the presidential rallies of Bernie Sanders,
whose 2020 presidential campaign she has
openly endorsed.
