charging test
Visiting the highest-output DC fast chargers—a 350-kW
Electrify America unit for the 270-kW-capable Taycan and a
250-kW V3 Supercharger for the 200-kW-capable Model S—
shows how the Taycan recoups miles at a higher rate deeper
into the charge. However, this shorter session, which drew
less energy, cost us $43. That works out to nearly five times
the going rate for California electricity and more than double
what Supercharging costs.
range test
We drove both cars at 75 mph for 100 miles around a 6.5-mile
oval to track highway efficiency and range, and the extrapo-
lated results were far closer than their EPA figures suggest.
acceleration test
After running all our usual tests, we did 15 consecutive
quarter-mile runs in each car to evaluate Porsche’s claim that
the Taycan’s performance holds up even as the battery
discharges. It wasn’t lying.
