Here’s how our other long-term vehicles

are faring in their 40,000-mile trials:

2019 Ram 1500 Limited 4x4
Arrival: March 2019
Miles: 31,475 Observed mpg: 15
Forget the Chevy Silverado and the Ford F-150. In the
Ram’s logbook, our editors keep comparing this humble
American truck to that highfalutin German crown jewel,
the Mercedes-Benz S-class. They’re not wrong.
Equipped with air springs, all the available comforts,
and enough leather to launch a Kiss cover band, our Ram drives and coddles like a
luxury car. We have just one persistent complaint: The new-for-2019 12.0-inch
Uconnect infotainment system freezes, reboots, and stumbles often enough to be a
nuisance. The dealer confirms our truck is running the latest software, so we’re left
to believe this is normal. It shouldn’t be. —Eric Tingwall

2020 BMW M340i
Arrival: September 2019
Miles: 8051
Observed mpg: 24

2020 Kia Telluride AWD
Arrival: August 2019
Miles: 16,100 Observed mpg: 21
Recently, we heard a clanging noise in our
Telluride. After an exhaustive investiga-
tion, we determined the source of the
clatter was an empty Coke can left in the
rear footwell. We also discovered a used
facial tissue, which is bogue. Otherwise,
our Telluride has been entirely faultless
as the odometer passed 15,000 miles.
We’re searching for problems, dissatis-
factions, or even a lone niggle, but so far,
we haven’t come up with anything. We
can’t even complain about our dealership
experience because apart from its routine
7500-mile service visits ($161 and $120),
our family truckster hasn’t seen the
inside of a service bay. —Daniel Pund
