Domesticated

The F-type settles into its later years with a simplified lineup,
a revised suspension, and a quieter V-8.

Jaguar’s updated F-type sports car competes with the memories of its prede-
cessors more than it does any other car out there right now. Consider the
least expensive F-type, the $62,625 P300 coupe. You’d have to be a pretty
committed Anglophile to go for the four-cylinder Jag over a mid-engine
Chev y Corvette or the 10 -grand-cheaper Toyota Supra. The more robust

the Porsche 911, not to mention the 760 -hp Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

The tires are wider by 10 millimeters front and rear, to 265 and 305, respectively. We drove the revised F-type in Portugal, where the roads were great but the weather wasn’t. The route from Porto to Lisbon presented nary a patch of dry pavement and more than a few sheep wandering out of the fog. So we can’t really say how Jag’s revisions NßRPa aUR UN[QYV[T dUR[ f\bμ_R ]bUV[T

becoming the neighborhood’s 575-hp rooster.

as though the F-type got just enough of a

quieter. Maybe we’d better get used to that.

CULLING THE CLOWDER
Since 2019, Jaguar has trimmed the F-type
lineup from eight powertrain configura-
tions to just three. The variants double
when you consider that Jaguar offers each
version as both a coupe and a convertible.
