BREATHING LIFE INTO THE MAC MINI

Back in October 2018, Apple announced the
biggest refresh to the Mac mini in years, rolling
out a new Space Gray color option with 4- and
6-core 8th-Generation Intel Core processors up
to five times faster than the previous Mac mini,
alongside Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports, support
for up to 64GB RAM, and all SSD configurations
with up to 2TB of storage. Since then, Apple has
made no changes to the device, but an insider
tip-off suggests an updated model could be
coming soon.

One of the biggest criticisms over the Mac mini
is that its storage is soldered-on, so if Apple
could introduce a new Mac mini with accessible
and user-upgradable internal storage and RAM,
the company could appease its professional
user-base who want to be able to add to their
device whenever needed. Sure, this would
impact the company’s bottom line, but at a time
when Apple is trying to win back loyalty from its
Mac users, it could be a smart move.
