Charles PerraultOnce upon a time, a woodcutter and his wife had two children named Hansel
and Gretel. They were very poor, and they lived in a tiny cottage in the forest.
One night, the children were woken up by their parents’ conversation in the
living room. “We must survive the upcoming winter. We must find enough wood for
the fire as well as food,” said the mother. The woodcutter replied, “I agree with
you, honey. Tomorrow, I will go to the forest and find wood and food so that we
can restore enough resources for the upcoming winter.”
