London. “Hair needs to be

smooth, manageable and

sleek, and you’ll need a

steady hand with those

scissors.” Always do this cut

when hair is wet. Make a

side parting on the

opposite side of where you

want your fringe to fall,

then grab the section of

hair you want as your

fringe. Pull that down to

the tip of your nose and

across the opposite side (so

the same side as your

parting), and snip. Don’t

worry if you get a tad

scissor-happy and cut too

“Anybody can rock this

fringe, but it’s especially

good for slimming a round

face,” says Roi. “It’s not

precise, so most hair types

will be able to work it —but

avoid it if you have curly

hair,” he adds. Select the

section of hair in the same

way as for a micro fringe,

but don’t go more than a

centimetre back from the

hairline. Pull it down to

the bridge of your nose

and cut slowly. It’s best to

cut too long, then re-assess

and go back if you need to.

A micro fringe doesn’t so

much rely on your face

shape, but rather your

features—they need to be

delicate and elfin. “You also

need manageable hair and

no cowlicks or

unevenness,” says Roi.

Always cut when hair is dry,

but first decide how thick

you want it. When

fast glam

selecting the section of

hair, don’t go more than an

inch back from your

hairline. Pull that section

outwards, resting the

scissors on your forehead

as you go, and cut straight

across, two centimetres

above your eyebrows. Use

a ruler to help keep the line

straight, and don’t worry if

you need to cut a little

more to neaten up—short

is the name of the game. n
