CONTRIBUTORS

Alan Gelati, a London-based photographer, started his career at Christie’s
in 1998. He has worked with brands like L’Oréal, Givenchy, Blumarine,
Chopard, and Schwarzkopf among others. In this issue, he photographs cover
star Kangana Ranaut in ‘A True Romance,’ pg 126. “It was a challenging and
interesting experience with a team of professionals who can mould around
diferent and tricky shooting situations. The cover is what I call portrait
photography and professionalism at its best.” Sabyasachi Mukherjee has
traversed a career path that has taken him to the fashion circles of Milan, Paris,
New York, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong to name a few.
His label has grown to encompass couture, ready-to-wear, and
now his own jewellery line. Here, he speaks with our cover star
in ‘A True Romance,’ pg 126. “I managed to convince Kangana
to colour her hair brown and embrace her natural curls. She truly
owned the environment in the setting of the French Riviera,
with sunshine streaming down her shoulders and her hair let
loose.Thank you Bazaar for this collaboration.” Divya Bala is a
fashion writer who has lived in Sydney, London, and New York.
Now based in Paris, she works in fashion, features, travel, advertising,
and brand consulting. In this issue, she interviews emerging
designer Matthew Adams Dolan in ‘One To Watch’, pg 56.
“Working with Matthew for this story was a special pleasure as
we have been dear friends since attending university together.
He jokes that he cast Naomi Janumala in his show, because she
reminded him of me, which I love! But I know it’s because
he has a genuine passion for diversity and that’s even better.”
Smridhi Sibal is a dancer-turned-fashion stylist. Styling for
her is more than trend-based—it’s to understand the story
and then conceptualise an engaging shoot. She has worked
for labels like Anita Dongre, Rara Avis, and Da Milano among
others. Here, she plays with colours in ‘Shade Card’, pg 38.
“Working with Bazaar is like working with family. I started
a year ago, and since then there has been no looking back.
Every project they give me is with so much love and trust
that it’s hard not to perform.” Runvijay Paul is a self-taught
photographer. Under the guidance of Magnum lensman
Raghu Rai and mentor Nitin Rai, Paul learned that it is not
necessary to tour the seven seas to click a good photograph.
You just need to have an eye to capture that unique moment as it happens, or
else you will miss out on the opportunity. In this issue, he photographs the trend
of colour-blocking in ‘Shade Card’, pg 38. “Bazaar India taps into all my creative
talents. Kudos to the team who presented this wonderful opportunity to me.
It is a delight to contribute to the magazine.”
