Who is more fashion inclined between the two of you?

Nadine Dhody Jiwrajka: Aneesa doesn’t take fashion very

seriously whereas I’ve always enjoyed dressing up. She does love

accessorising though.

Aneesa Dhody Mehta: I’m a little more practical in my approach

to fashion and I’ll always be a boho child at heart. Nadine is a

more like our mom. She’s quite sophisticated and always very

well put together. And she’s constantly telling me what to wear.

NDJ: In fact, I recently suggested that she give me the money she

would spend on herself and let me buy her wardrobe. We’re

going to do a test run at Zara irst.

Was your mother a big influence on your style?

NDJ: Our mother’s style is very classical, it was never over the

top. But she used to live in Dolce & Gabbana and we have

inherited a lot of those pieces.

Do you think fashion can be a good investment?

NDJ: Deinitely. I started out collecting good accessories and

now I look for nice jackets. Once you invest in these pieces you

can save them and pass them on to the next generation.

One item you would steal from each other’s wardrobes.

ADM: Nads has a lilac Chanel boy bag that I would totally whack.

And I know what she wants from me!

NDJ: So the Dior Saddlebag has recently made a comeback

and Aneesa has an original one from our mother which I’m

deinitely eyeing.

Both of you work in luxury and fashion in diferent ways. Tell us

about what you do.

ADM: With my agency Creative Co, I help lifestyle and luxury

brands get more visibility or launch themselves in a new market.

NDJ: For the last three years I’ve had my own occasionwear brand.

I started working in my mother’s factory where I had access to her

karigars and tailors. At irst I was designing clothes for myself, I was

looking to make Indianwear that was more modern, and slowly my

clientele grew.

Would the two of you ever work together?

ADM: It depends on where she wants to take her label. Right now

she seems to have her hands full but if she wants to access a bigger

market then of course, I’ll be able to help her with that.
