AVANTIKA BAKSHI, PRODUCER & DJHow would you define each other’s sense of style?
Devika Bakshi: Avantika is very eccentric and plays with
a lot of colour. Kanika is more aware of trends and so on.
Kanika Bakshi Talwar: Devika is the most glamorous of us
three. She can be adventurous as well—she’ll choose a dress
with an interesting cut or a cool blouse for a traditional sari.
Avantika Bakshi: Devika is very picky. She’ll take an hour
to decide on a dress. Kanika is fashion-forward. And
a hoarder: She has too much of everything in her closet.
Do you ever raid each other’s closet?
KBT: It really depends on our sizes. While growing up
Devika was always very thin so we don’t take anything
from her closet.
DB: That’s a lie. There was a time when both of you used
to borrow from me. Now it’s mostly Avantika who
borrows all our clothes.
AB: More accessories than clothes. When we were younger,
if they weren’t around, I would sneakily pull out a clutch.
Now I just ask them for it.
DB: That’s a lie too.
Avantika, if you were to dress your sisters diferently for
a day, what would you pick out for them?
AB: Clown outits! I’m kidding; I might make them try
what I wear.
What are your biggest fashion influences?
AB: The musician FKA Twigs and also Blake Lively.
KBT: I like looking at street style images online.
DB: Travelling and seeing what people are wearing
in other cultures.
What is it like to grow up surrounded by women?
DB: Your sisters are your best friends. Even though there
are days when we want to kill each other.
AB: The house always felt very full and there was always
